DATE & TIME: Tue. October 21, 2025 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm

VENUE: La Nacional – 239 West 14th Street (MANHATTAN)

New York, New York. September 21, 2025. – Manhattan’s newest monthly arthouse film and performance series “A Night at La Nacional” returns to La Nacional – Spanish Benevolent Society on West 14th Street Tuesday, October 21s for the eighth edition of its nine-month pilot with two featurettes, one a quiet tale of love blossoming through loss, the other a kaleidoscopic look at an essential, provocative question about human nature.

Cookies is a classic rom-com by Stewart Lewis filmed in New York City. Noah, a dashing professor, is left alone with his dog when his wife dies unexpectedly. He finds a flyer for a yoga studio, goes in on a whim and meets April, the receptionist with “healthy” homemade cookies. She is dealing with her sick father and struggling as an artist, but something clicks. A book changes hands. Sparks turn to embers, turn to flames. What Noah doesn’t know is that the yoga flyer that brought him to April has a note on the back…

What is Enough is a 26-minute documentary by Nataša Prosenc Stearns, joining us in October thanks to a collaboration with the Government of Slovenia. A hundred people of all provenances, ages, races and sexual orientations discuss what “enough” means, with her rapid-fire editing turning magnificently disparate responses into what reads on screen like a single stream-of-consciousness voice. It comes on the heels of its New York City premiere at Bronx World Film Cycle, Summer 2025 in August past. Ms. Prosenc Stearns will be present.

Doors open 5:30 for a mixer and cash bar, live performances at 6:30, screenings at 8 with Q & A after. La Nacional, in its 100th year at its present location, is among the city’s oldest non-profits, dubbed “a hidden gem” by Daily News and last vestige of Manhattan’s “Little Spain.”

Admission to “A Night at La Nacional” is free. Cash bar only. Donations accepted.
